My Experience as Fresher with Workplace Harassment and Forced Resignation at Accenture

I want to share my experience as a fresher at Accenture, my first company from a college placement. The first six months were fine, but then I faced severe mental harassment from my supervisor and manager. She constantly criticized my work and gave negative feedback, causing me immense stress. I often skipped meals and worked weekends to improve, but nothing helped.

Despite reporting the issue and requesting a supervisor change or a different track, my requests were ignored. The harassment worsened, affecting my physical health, and I couldn't eat or sleep properly. My manager controlled trivial aspects like where to sit and whom to talk to, making the situation unbearable. I was even forced to switch from a developer role to a tester, despite being trained as a developer.

The final straw was being placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) without a clear reason, with the same harassing individuals assessing me. I only had 1.9 years of experience then. I reported the mental harassment to HR and resigned due to deteriorating health, panic attacks, and weight loss. Despite having no other job offer, I couldn't continue. Even during my notice period, I was forced to complete PIP assignments, which led to suicidal thoughts and further health issues.

Now, I am jobless, feeling helpless and frustrated. With less than 2 of experience, I struggle to find offers in a down IT market and don't know what to do next.

Contrary to other posts here DO NOT share on LinkedIn. You need to recover from the trauma you endured and the best way to go forward is to forget the last. Sounds cliched but it’s more healing than people care to admit.
Revenge fantasies on the manager sound good right now but in the long term it won’t matter.

Take care of your health and mental wellness. Go home if possible. Take some time off and relax. Prepare for your interviews and the good folks here will help you land on your feet.
Share your profile and I will see if any one is hiring in my network.
Cheers

That's what I was wondering too. Not a good suggestion to post this on linkedin and tag manager and company.

Better to take time and heal for sometime and evaluate what you want to do next interms of your career.

Dude I am so sorry you had to go through this 🙁 I know this might sound bullshit, but I promise life gets better. It always does. And karma is real. Mental health is not a joke and it’s sad that majority of the people are suffering from deteriorating mental health due to toxic workplaces. I hope you find peace. I really do.

Aaah some female women in tech think they know everything. Had 3 such managers back to back, the only luck they had was they were born like 30 years ago and are now in US or in higher position. And this agenda of diversity maaan who the fuck came up with this concept. Morons across the leadership positions in the name of diversity.

This happened same for me at the same time.

So how did you cope up with it? What did you do?

Name the manager. Don't be scared naming these shitty people. As you have already resigned, your manager can't do any harm to you. If you just name the manager, he/she will be publicly humiliated for his/her acrions. Rest for sure, the humiliation will be unbearable for that person too and forced to resign from Accenture.

People openly saying post it on linkden is not something I would say is the right thing to do...it may look bad for your next job, maybe glass door? Also there must be others like you...

Totally agree, posting in LinkedIn may affect your future career. Better to post anonymously in Glassdoor or Google reviews

My two cents, DO NOT post on LinkedIn (or any where). The people suggesting in other comments just want gossip You are without a job at the moment, and hiring managers/recruiters may stay away if you share previous company shaming posts. Focus on getting hired.

Sad state of hiring, discussing mental health in interviews is still not seen in good light

@GoldenApron Hi bro,

I can feel your pain. Corporates do this shit when they don't want to lay off people officially. They harass people, put them on PIP so that they resign by themselves because if corporates are officially laying off someone, they need to pay severance which they don't wanna pay. Not just this, when they don't want to pay for proper appraisals, they gaslight us to believe that our performance is poor. Even I felt horrible when this happened in my first job. With time I have stopped taking their feedbacks seriously. Those are BS.

That was really toxic what you were going through, they were micromanaging you. I'm glad you left that place and got rid of that manager or rather micromanager.

If you look it, it was good riddance. I urge to spend your time to apply to other companies and demand for the salary you deserve. Maybe there's something way better ahead of you. Wishing you all the best!

@GoldenApron sharing this video so that you know that it's not your fault but corporates are evil to gaslight innocent people: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7cDmaBs5Is/?igsh=MThxYmUxbDF6d2Rocg==

@GoldenApron I really pray that you have enough strength to come out of this situation, realise your true worth and do really well in life. It's a hard situation but you'll slowly learn how corporates work and you'll learn how to get your way through it and not let it effect you because honestly it's not your performance, they just don't want to spend money anymore.

Simply write a letter to the labour commissioner, cc to hr and your manager and see how the tables turn. The more proof you attach the better. Anything, even chats can count as evidence for harassment. And if you have even a decent enough case, the company will be FORCED TO take action against her. Do not let this slide. Not reporting this behaviour will only promote it and there will be many victims
