Resignation

Is it wrong to ask a colleague whether he/she is resigning? I asked one of my colleague, that person started avoiding me, infact the entire gang started avoiding me? Is it so personal in a big MNC?

Maybe they haven't informed their managers / their team yet. Or are still evaluating whether to leave or not and don't want to reveal anything? Becuase if their team finds out, it can be looked down upon since they're looking to quit

They informed the manager, I got to know from one more person about that so only asked.

Sometimes the HR or the management specifically instructs them not to let others know, if someone accepts they are leaving, conversations about why and where would naturally follow and they would not be good for employee morale. It's a toxic tactic when the firm wants to hide its crap, which anyways is known to most employees.

It totally depends on person to person. Some people are comfortable sharing all these details while on the other hand some just try to avoid sharing any personal information. It also depends on the type of bonding which you have with your colleague. Better mind your own business in such cases. :)
