Starting my one meal a day diet for a month

I realised that I have gained a lot of weight recently and wanted to do something about it. I have some small back issue so can’t work out a lot. Tried intermittent fasting with 16:8 and lost some 2.5 kgs with just that and cutting heavily on sugar.

I want to reduce more, so for last one week, I am only eating lunch (2 eggs, 4 rotis with ghee and one vegetable)

Internet has mixed opinions on this. Talked to one healthifyme nutritionist but their agenda was to sell me something than actual suggestions.

Want to understand from this community, if you folks have done something like this and how good/bad could it be.

1st get a full body checkup up done.

You will miss nutrition if u follow above routine. Include dal and more protein source + roughage

Got it done. Seems fine plus as you said, I realised that this is not a sustainable way to do it. Making some changes

Not sustainable, you will gain back all which you have lost.

Did speak to a nutritionist, they also suggested to not follow this for more than once a week

OMAD is notoriously difficult to sustain. It also isn't advisable because you will run a substantial nutrient deficit very quickly. This results in long term damage including muscle atrophy amongst other things.

Your weight will also yo-yo depending on when you stop.

Please consult a nutritionist and engage a fitness trainer.

You need to do both - increase your BMR and optimise food intake.

If you’re looking for a sustainable option, definitely not the way to go. As someone who didn’t have meals on time for a long period and struggling with gastritis now, take it from me. Please please eat! Develop a healthy relationship with food. I really can’t stress this enough.

What worked for me is calorie deficit (high protein, medium carb and fat), clocking ~10k steps a day, lifting thrice a week and getting enough sleep. I lost 4kg in two months. In your case, if you can’t work out, even mild moving everyday will work.

Use tdeecalculator to find your calorie needs and find the calories you need under cutting. Use Myfitnesspal and track your calories diligently. I’ve even gone back to my maintenance calories now and increased workout as I found it hard to be in deficit for more than two months.

Don’t try to find an easy way to lose weight and let other aspects of your health suffer.

Thanks for the detailed response. Realised that this might not be a sustainable way

Man don't do that I did that in July which resulted in massive hairfall. Instead increase your workouts.

Lost 8kgs in 4 weeks. Did intermittent fasting for about 4 days a week (skipped breakfast), salads for lunch, and a decent dinner (continued to pig out for two meals during weekends) zero desserts. Morning cardio heavy workout for about 45 mins and evening brisk walk for about 3-4 kms. Can’t survive on one meal a day, too much of a foodie, kudos if you can sustain but I’d say once you achieve your ideal weight, gradually go to 2 meals a day

Done it and was losing upto a kg a week. It’s good practice. Losing weight is all about going calorie deficit

Hello Ninja ninja, did you do OMAD? share the experience. How was it? What changes did you make eventually. What was the outcome?

Intermittent fasting worked for me. Lost 5 kg over 6 months.

Have breakfast at 10 Am and dinner by 7pm. Difficult initially but you will see it works wonders over time.

Hey,it is advised to not go below 1500 calories for adult males and 1250-1350 calories for adult females.(In some exceptional cases like when you are preparing for some photoshoot or bodybuilding show etc.) Beacuse
this is general range of BMR for majority of
adult population. So make sure you eat that much calories at least.

Instead of going too low on food you can try increasing your activity levels.

Also congratulations for cutting sugar🎉🎉. All the best for your fitness journey.
