Is Interviewer vibe a thing?

In your experience, what are some tell tale signs during interviews about a company?

Appeared for anonline video interview with Apple recently. The 2 interviewers didn't even bother to turn on their cameras throughout the whole discussion. Had much respect for the firm but didn't expectrd this. Why do some people do this ? Do they think they are working in a company where many aspire to be and that gives them the freedom to behave like this ?

Does anyone else feel like the PM interview process is easily scammable? I feel like 80% of it is a vibe check and 20% is the actual content itself. Am a PM with 3 YoE and have been interviewing around recently. I have 0 preparation for any interview I walk into and have gotten offers from multiple startups. (Not bragging, I'm a good talker) You need to just break down any questions into understandable parts and explain it well enough. Maybe it's imposter syndrome or maybe I'm a little disillusioned with my job. TC : 31 base 4 performance bonus 10 ESOPs

I was in an interview with a CEO of an 8 year old startup. The dude was vaping during the interview. Kept saying “whatever” to all my achievements, didn’t even see my resume before starting the interview. Stretched a 30 minutes call to 75 minutes where I only spoke for 15 maybe. I immediately withdrew my application post the call. Did anyone ever experience bad behaviour from the interviewer?

Not sure how many anime fans are here, but I was recently watching this new anime called “Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead”, which basically shows how a corporate employee is so fed up with his messed up job, that the first thought he has, when zombie apocalypse hits is, “I don’t have to go to work anymore!”, and he’s out to do things that he always wanted to. Anyways, in the new episode, its shown how a toxic leader/boss/senior behaves. And man, was that so accurate!! It shows how these leaders make you work like hell, belittle you, and misbehave with you. Even if you think of leaving the job, they make you believe how hard it is to survive without your current job, and how the work you’re doing is nothing, and that you can be easily replaced. And in the end, after fucking up your mental peace, they will come and show a little bit of sympathy, telling they how they just push you for your own sake. Acting like some wise old “mentor you never had”. And you know, what the worst part is, since all your colleagues are living in the same environment, since everyday you go through the same toxicity over n over, it becomes normal for u. Your brain adjusts, and it seems to think that this is how the world is. Moreover, if you are a fresher, and you don’t have any prior experience of work culture, you seem to believe thats how work life is, and will always be. I’m ranting this out, since i wasted around 1-1.5 years of my life in such startup, and it wasn’t just the time that was wasted, it also took my passion, my energy, my motivation and my goal with it. To all the folks who might be in a similar situation, I just want to say, I know it’s hard and I know you probably can’t leave due to some financial situations or other issues. But BELIEVE ME when i say that nothing in this entire world comes above your mental health. Save that first folks. Be selfish, saving others can wait!

Recently, I gave an interview at this early startup in Bangalore. It consisted of 5 rounds. - The first four rounds were technical, design, and assignment rounds which went well. I answered all the questions fairly well and the interviewer was happy knowing the answer. - The fifth round was with the CEO - Now this was the turning point. He was more concerned about my personal situation. He asked questions like, where I live, where is my hometown, if WFO is okay for me (I was working remotely in my current company ), and where is your dad ( I said he was no more and that turned off the CEO of a company), how will you keep my mother in BLR, why your mom not living with your siblings?. And I was like "WTF man".the only technical question he asked -> "Have you ever hacked a system in your recent days?". 😂😂 After wasting more than 14 hours in the process I received a rejection mail without any feedback. Message to recruiter - if you are more concerned about the personal situation of the candidate, please conduct a preliminary round for that.

Recently I have been interviewed by a company and cleared the first round. Then I had 2nd round of the interview conducted through intervue.io which is a outsourced platform. The interviewer was least bothered to know what I am doing in my current role and how I can contribute to org but only conducted interviews by posting code snippet to solve. Do you think it is right way to conduct interviews? Please share your experience

Context: I had put out a message seeking newer projects, and a certain person reached out. They have over 20+ yrs of exp and run their own boutique consultancy. The role they had envisioned fit perfectly that I was looking for. Interview: We spoke over an hour, discussing the role, my top skills that would be beneficial, future prospects, where I see myself beyond work. Genuinely good conversation. The person concludes the Interview and I quote "Now that I have met you, I can definitely say the pictures you have over your social media and website do not do justice to how you look. You have many photogenic angles that you should explore" Shock was understatement I steered the conversation towards how it is essential for my personal brand building and I have it in my consideration. (I believe I handled it well) P.S. Anyone who supports this because it was just appreciating beauty - wrong place wrong time and also wrong person. P.P.S. Time to get a photoshoot done!

How to ask the interviewer to turn on his camera when they ask the interviewee the same. Is this rude to ask this.?
