You did DSA 15-20 days w/o any break, you should be guilty for this by the way. 
  
 Once in a week(it can be on sundays) you should give relax to your body mentally by not doing much on hustling sides. 
  
 It will help you stay productive in the long run.

I am interested in specializing in fullstack development with modern tech stack, nextjs, prisma, postgresql, shadui. My current project has over a million loc, ancient tech stack though: java struts, weblogic. Build time takes around 2 hours and running it locally is a 8 point story task everytime. 

I have been trying my best to learn on the side. Have also built some projects but I need to be more fluent.

Only my debugging skills and code navigation has improved and that too has peaked.

I am now feeling stuck. Coming from office tired and then I feel guilty for not having learned on the side because I am mentally tired in office.

Can anyone suggest how they dealt with this kind of problem or if my perspective is wrong

I’ve taken few leaves to connect with family and relax but I’m feeling guilty for not working. 
I see slack and emails being exchanged and that makes me feel I’m not doing enough and it will impact my appraisal. 
So essentially I’ve taken leaves but unable to enjoy which was the purpose of taking leaves. Does anyone else relate to this? 
How do y’all cope with this? Any tips?

Yesterday I started work around 11.30 and spent about 2-3 hours in the morning & afternoon doing code reviews , tech discussions, meetings etc. and then spent most of the day chilling with my parents. (WFH)

I felt a bit guilty about working so less (and there was some work to do) so I put in a 3 hour focused time to write some code/implement some requirements. 

Total of about 5-6 hours of actual time spent actually working. This has been about the average for me for a year now; this is how a typical work day usually looks like. At home I usually spend maybe 6-8 hours in front of the laptop at my desk out of which 5-6 hours would be actual time spent working. (It’s a LOT less at office, that’s a different story altogether)

Is this too less or is this the norm for software engineers today? What does the number look like for you, how many hours do you spend in front of your laptop & how many hours do you actually work every day?

Hello awesome Devs!!

How do you keep up the motivation to grind leetcode after a regular job? For example, I am a software developer with 1 YOE and I find it boring to continue with those algorithm problems after a certain threshold. 

But anyway, I feel the hiring process is still the same for most and there would at least 2 DSA rounds for most of the product based companies.

How do you keep up the motivation for this?

I’m a final year student studying BTech in India. I have a foreign internship confirmed from Feb next year, and my current intern at a startup is ending at 30th November. I’ve been working at this startup for more than 2 years now, poured my heart and soul into it, but due to career growth decisions I had to leave it.

With nothing to do for next 2 months, I have started slacking off from work even though I have 20 days left, which is bad. All work and no play since last 3 months have left me so burnt out that I have done less than 6 hours of coding in last 1 week.

It’s eating me up from inside as I have a huge obligation to this startup, plus there is so much to learn, and I don’t want to start my career with such unprofessional behaviour. Instagram and YouTube shorts have ruined my attention span, mental energy and will to work, and it’s affecting my mental and physical health as well.

I have tried multiple motivational videos, practices, tips and tricks, everything. They help for maximum of 2 days and then it’s again back to this. Even though I’m hugely interested in tech, learning, devops and programming… motivation is dead and my life feels ruined, especially after seeing all the achievements people are having in and around social media, linkedin etc.

I just don’t know what to do to overcome this lazyness.

I always think of studying or building that one project over the weekend or complete that one chore which is pending from past 2 years!
But fail everytime, I don't even move on weekends i don't like going anywhere I don't even like house full of people I just want quite time in weekends but unfortunately don't get it so I feel like I have not relaxed properly and this makes me think I deserve to be lazy all because of this have not studied from a long time so much so that I am almost back to being a noob on my skills its so freakin heart breaking where I have landed myself and I repeatedly do this every week! I can't even focus on one thing. Even if I quit social media and get serious it's just for 2-3 days max after that I am back to the procrastination den.

Please guide, seriously need advice and steps that can be helpful to overcome this.

This was the job I so badly wanted. It's WFH. The actual work hasn't begun. Training phase is going on. It's not even training. They've sent me some material to read and learn. That's it. I don't know any of my colleagues well. I just hear their voices on teams meet. I feel like quitting already.

Done with my end-sem, and started building projects and learning new concepts for like 15hr+/day, but now it's getting boring for me(I like working on projects) no physical interactions with friends just sitting in a room and coding😩. bruh sometimes I like watching series, movies, and animes but now that's also getting me bored.

we don't have an ODC or seats allocated thus no option to goto office. 
During the initial days, I felt blessed about this WFH and lately it impacts my work life balance. 
I binge eating and binge watch tv shows when there's no priority work.

I feel I don't have any motivation to learn anything and also feel disconnected whenever I meet another techie. 

How do you all cope with WFH?

My contract was terminated last month citing restructuring.
Honestly, I saw it coming but wasn't expecting it would hit like this

I tried keeping my mind distracted, but now it has started to sink

I live with parents and they aren't saying anything (they were feeding me before and still are, no change for them)

I have had thoughts of ending all this, but do not have the courage. What if it ends halfway and I am redundant my whole life?

Credit card bills are coming through now and being 42% of my ex-salary wasn't something I was prepared for. I thought I was a sane spender.

How did you tackle being laid off?

Keep looking around, apply and eventually you're bound to get a good job I promise you. Just treat it as a numbers game. Ask your parents help with the credit card bills if you don't have enough corpus, there is no shame in that. You can give the money back to them when you're in a better position. 
  
 You're a nice person from what I know of you in this platform, you got this sis! Ending it all is not a good option for the people who care about you, and you're probably gonna look back later and smile and be glad for making it through

So thing is  In last 1 week my manager/project lead has been threating that you will have to work on weekend if you dont complete your task by friday and put the the task to testing.

And this boils my blood soo damnn much . But as a person who is on lowest level i cant do/say shit. I just disagree with him and dont argue.

So I'm a Marketing & Growth Guy with 7 years of experience (Expertise - Performance Marketing) and currently working for Company abroad as a Growth Lead for one of their projects. I get 2.5 Lacs (In Hand) every month as a salary.

Now the problem is, they hired me last year April. And product isn't ready till now. Whenever it is about to be ready, there's a new pivot that comes across and I go completely free. I've done only 2-3 mini campaigns. 

Also, its WFH so I've plenty of free time. And I'm wasting it by sleeping in the afternoon. It's like I'm getting free salary without doing anything. Recently I've started actively swing trading in Stock Market and have got 2 small freelancing projects - Just to keep myself busy.

With this, I'm obviously not learning anything at work and also, there's a sense of insecurity that I'll be laid off anytime. 

What should I do? Leave it? Or continue my guilty pleasure? My age is 29 and I would want to move towards stability.

Hello guys, I did alot of DSA in my college time (Tier 3 college), I got the highest marks in my DSA sem exams in my class and my professor was impressed with me, I gave leetcode contests, learned DSA from YT and so on. 

I got placed in a decent company with a 7.5 LPA package (while my best friend, who hardly knew DSA got a SDET role in a startup with 40 LPA), now after 2 years my pacakge is 10 LPA, I want to switch to a better company with good pay, I restarted practising DSA again but everytime I get stuck in some question and not able to solve it, it feels like I am wasting my time.

While in my job, I learned Angular, TypeScript and frontend dev (which interests me more than DSA, but I am too lazy to make my own side projects)

what should I do? should I stick on to DSA even though sometimes I just feel like I am wasting my time solving some random question which doesn’t justify anything about me? or beat my laziness and make some side projects with the frontend skills that I have?

any advice would help me. Thanks in advance.
