I've been working at the same company for 4.5 years and while I feel the growth has been satisfactory, I feel my career has hit a wall. I'm aware of the layoff situation in the market and extreme grateful that I still have a job, but after almost 10 years of professional experience, I've come to realize that a good working environment pays off in the long run. How to over come feeling defeated and anxious as I grow older in tech field biased towards younger lot and shiny new tech stacks.

Worked in WITCH companies, no hope of getting into product based at 11 yrs exp.

I am no way extraordinary technologically wise nor got chance to work on complex projects just standard Crud apps on different tech stacks like Asp.net and SAP Fiori/Hana.

I shudder to think of being jobless at 50 with no job with no pension and max responsibilities on my shoulders at that time .

Can someone provide pointers how to come out of this rut? I would be grateful🙏🏻

I am not supporting the act or trivializing his pain. I am just trying to make the point that office pressure is real and unbreable. Be human first.

Overall exp 18 yrs in a mnc bank drawing close to 60 laks CTC. But the growth is stymied and don’t hv visibility of what’s the Development path and how can I get there. Mulling to take a break and prioritise but have some leverage to manage and kids savings.

 I am not able to find any anchor or goal. Further, wfh doesn't help either 😭😭. I was planning to connect with people who empathize with my situation, any guidance or help.

I’ve been noticing a trend lately and wanted to see if anyone else feels the same. After about 10 years in the tech industry, it seems like a lot of us are shifting towards people or product management roles instead of continuing deep technical work. I get that management roles often come with perks, but it feels like we’re losing out on technical growth.

With how fast the tech space is changing and AI taking over a lot of things, it feels even more crucial to stay updated technically. Is anyone else struggling with this? Is it any different in startups versus big tech companies? How are you dealing with it? Are there ways to stay technically sharp while still advancing your career? Any decision making framework/parameter to evaluate career growth?

I have close to 5 years of experience in non-tech role (PMO+sales operations) and my CTC is close to 17LPA. My work-life balance was bad during the first 4 years but the learnings were good. Now for the last 1 year, my work has been pretty chill but at the same time I'm not learning anything new and I don't see any growth in this role. I'm in a difficult spot as it's not easy to change role at this point of my career and MBA option doesn't make a lot of sense from a financial standpoint as I'm only able to crack the new IIMs.

I'm kind above average person in reasoning and aptitude but not good for AI or Ml.

Not sure about the exact tech stack

Currently have another offer of 14 as Base + 2 as relocation for a Mumbai based startup (no ESOP as of now).

Currently working with food delivery giant (loving the tech here but pay wise its very little : 8)

Ps : Currently remote job is not a gamechanger for me.

Which firm should I join. Want to learn and grow as a developer, scale do excites me.

- lazy person
- will do something when I really need something or due to circumstances rarely due to self motivation.
- not really motivated right now, but need some adrenaline pump to get going


On software side of things:
- DSA not really good, have given up on hard questions.
- like working on system design - really interested in tradeoffs and scaling.
- can put in long hours when needed
- ready to learn any new things when there is necessity.

Currently wlb is not so great. Also I feel like I'm repeating the same work, not doing anything much on engineering side but rather building few api's.

These things might be wague, but would really appreciate good and valuable explanations and improvement idea.
