I come from a poor background, but somehow I worked extremely hard and now I earn decently well (above 60 LPA cash). 

My problem is- 
I don’t mind spending on others. In fact I don’t even think twice before taking my card out and buying things for family or friends. I have also lent money to multiple people when they are in need of help (total close to about 2-3 lakhs). But it doesn’t bother me even a bit. I don’t even care about whether I’ll get it back or not. 

But, when it comes to me, I find myself struggling so much and questioning my decision to buy things even as cheap as INR 200-300. And most of the times I find myself going extra miles to save a few bucks. In fact, I also recently downgraded from a bigger to smaller apartment, because I have been doing so much maths around saving 7-8K a month. 

Maybe there is some part of me that feels that I don’t deserve any of this. 

Anyone has any idea how to fix this?

I have been working over 10 years, I have always been an overly ambitious person but lately am okay with doing few freelancing assignments and not taking up something very challenging say a full time job at a startup or starting up etc. I do run a partime travel company we host events every month and make some money off that which I enjoy and is my passion. What do you guys think? 
Is there something wrong with just wanting something ordinary.

Ps: I love to travel if someone made me hike every weekend I would I have even had that lifestyle pre covid

In today's world, due to multiple offerings by companies, it becomes very enticing to take up credit for phones, travels, business. How do we not fall into this trap, before ending up into a debt trap?

I have observed this( at least with my self) that whatever goals you set for your self ( X salary, Y net worth etc etc.) once you're there it becomes ordinary extremely fast and it starts feeling normal again and on you go towards the next milestone.
I was wondering when does this end? Do any of you have reached a point where you don't have the lust for more? You're happy with what you have? 
Did you do something actively to make that mindset? Or were you a "satisfied with what you have" kind of a person all your life?

I know few people who were in Nvidia at 2013 and now they are millionaires in India also

8cr+ worth, 3-4 lacs nvidia stocks was all they needed in 2013-14

They have bought expensive villas of 5cr+

But looks like now Jensen Huang has tightened the belt and Nvidia guys need to get time off to spend that money 🤑

When did we stop living? What are we chasing? Why did we make living so complex? Life used to be so simple. Why are so tensed and worried all the time? When will all this end ?

This is worse addiction than smoking, drinking. 

Haven't watched any short/reels for 5 days straight feeling like a void inside. 

But its better, Watching reels/shorts would give a feeling of satisfaction because of the dopamine release.
So seeking other experiences for that dopamine hit. Life is getting better.

Phone is a necessity. Ok cool, no problem. But expensive phone, oh sorry SUPER EXPENSIVE PHONE??? Not really. If you can't afford one, why do you want to buy one? EMI pe phone lena, does it even make sense? And why do you want to go over your budget and get a phone, on which you are only going to watch reels, and occasionally take some photos? If you have money, no problem. But if you are living on edge, you have bills to pay, you barely save some money, why would you in your right mind get a phone so expensive? Forget the phone, the maintenance itself requires monthly spending. Forget charger, cover, glass, apples very own services apple music, applecare, etc all those things are also going to cost. If you are not going to use those, and instead go for some cheap free to use service, get a normal not so expensive phone. You don't even have an apple ecosystem or are trying to get one in the near future. You are already not using half of the features the iPhone has, then what's the point? I'm tired of my friend's half cooked brain arguing over getting an iphone. No offense bro, but you hardly save a month half of what airpods cost. The market is so volatile. You should focus on savings for your own emergency. I don't see a need for why you need an iphone. Heck, I saw a rickshawala owning a 15pro the other day! Good for him for getting an iphone, but then how are you managing finances? Am I missing God's daily drop of money or are people really this dumb?

I don't get the hype why people want an iPhone when they can't afford one?

Just met a dear friend with 10+ yoe and earning 33L per anam. 

He doesn't want to get promoted or salary hike as he is getting enough as per need and wants to have good WLB. He is accumulating a 3cr corpus and planning to retire in 10 years in his hometown in Ranchi.

Debt free - family house in Ranchi and married with no kids - single income. 

Isn't the amount very small/too risky? Considering anything can go wrong in future and you should work really hard in 30s to avoid that as much as you can.

What's your opinion?

Now a days work is never ever getting completed, we are working even after the office hours because every project is a p0 project, also managers are autocrative then a tech lead who dont have l0 knowledge but will comment on your timelines and i really doubt that with this culture in it industry i would really want to continue for long run. 
Are there some better career pivots that should be consider in mid 20s to avoid life long suffering ?

I believe men are becoming increasingly conscious of their appearance and it’s quite evident on GV as well. Working out, getting in shape is only L1 problem, personal care goes beyond working out. But there are two problems when men want to start personal care (skin,hair, body)

1. Lack of knowledge. Where to start? How to start? Which products to use? What is Vitamin C? WTF is a hyaluronic acid?

2. If #1 is sorted, then the second problem is laziness. I spoke to 220+ men and 70% spend only spend or want to spend 10-20 mins/day on personal care.

I plan to solve this by,

1. Content. Becoming an education first brand. Best example is Ditto Insurance, they’re more of an advisor than a Insurance selling company. A good example in D2C space is The Whole Truth. I want to educate men about personal care. I want to build a brand that men turn to when starting their personal care journey. 

2. Innovative products & Functionality. Men would benefit a lot from serum but they don’t use it primarily because the hassle of using a dropper, rubbing it on your face is too much. We’ll innovate how these products are made. Easy to use. 


I’ve dropped a full-time job offer to build this right out of college. Borrowed 10L from F&F. Registered the company and on-boarded a few kickass people to create content. Hope all goes well. I’ll keep sharing the progress here :)
