SBI's verification process can be thorough and sometimes frustrating. It's standard procedure, not necessarily fishy. They aim to ensure security and accuracy. Patience is key.

So i applied for sbi credit card (simply save) jus to get aamazon gf. But the process of verification is like pathetic. While there a agent who is gudibg me on call where to click button then vkyc happende post that she is one by one taking details of my address parents detail like it irritated me. though it irritated me.

I have done this very deligently after validating the url is genuine sbicard only. 

Post that call i got call next day asking please let me know for address verification a guy came to my address i mean what the hell is this.

He dont belive on aadhar card details or communication address.

Does this sound fishy too you or its sbi so they are like this only?

So I was told by the SBI rep that helped me through the process that my card was approved and I even e-signed the final docs and mentioned what address the card needs to be delivered to. 

However now I hear that the card has a “Return to Bank” status and the application is denied due to internal policy criteria. The IVR (automated call) says that it’s not due to credit standing. 

Anyone ever faced this?

Every time I apply they say some error or not eligible. Dumb mfs don't give any details and can't contact them.

I have many other CCs and a good score.

Has any recruiter asked you to share PAN number before even scheduling interviews?
I recently got a call from Physics Wallah recruiter and after exchanging common information she demanded PAN number to which at first I refused then told her I’ll share over email. I said that so that I could check if she is not a scammer. I also asked her why it is necessary? To which she provided generic BS(to put into portal, big companies also ask this). Verified from truecaller and linkedin that she is indeed genuine. But anyways I didn’t feel comfortable to share a sensitive government ID before even having interviews. I told her my reasons and she rudely said they won’t be able to proceed further and I said no problem!

Request everyone to refrain from these practices otherwise this will become a norm. You don’t know in whose hand your ID will go and how and where they will store this info. Cut the BS and just say no.

I have avoided SBI always in the past. Even few days back, someone here on GV bashed SBI when he had to wait 3hr for account opening. But the prospect of being defrauded and shortchanged for loans, with random charges added and preclosure being a pain, I am dreading to interact with Private banks and NBFC's.

I haven't had the experience of servicing home loans/personal loans with HDFCs or other banks yet. But I was planning on getting a personal loan this month and HDFC is offering very competitive rate of 11%.

Do you guys have any reviews on their service whenever you have needed something adhoc?

I applied for a standard charted credit card via a phone call agent. (sir you are eligible for a card call wale). I wanted a platinum LTF card but she said after submitting the details I am eligible for another card with fixed yearly charges of 350. She told me she would pay me 350 after I received the card. She called back-to-back during office hours. So I blocked her. In the last two days, she has called me from 7 different numbers, at least 20-25 times. Finally, I picked up her call, and she told me that she would have to pay 3000 rupees fine If I won't process my card. She will G-pay me 350.

HDFC, SBI, ICICI clearly the strongest. Startup credit companies usually work with Federal Bank, but they seem to be missing from this list, that's a bit weird? 

Can somebody from the fintech domain help me understand?

I applied for two credit cards in the past month.
Amex Platinum Travel & AU Ixigo.
Amex was approved very fast and I even got the card very soon. On the other hand, AU Ixigo application got declined 💀💀
Any idea as to what extra checks or criteria these guys have? 
My cibil score is very good, have HDFC, ICICI and OneCard cc’s, pretty decent net salary as well.

On another note: Please suggest a cc with 0% forex fee and lounge access…. That was my main reason to apply for the au ixigo card in the first place xD

I was trying to mortgage my property for some cash and one “associate” from SBI took INR 90,000 from me on the pretext of one fees or the other. He signed a “document” promising to return the money too. In fact, he issued a cheque for half the amount. No surprises, the cheque bounced 

It has been one month now and I still haven’t got my money back. I don’t know what to do. 

Just putting it out there for others to be careful.
