The graph has become a nice source for comparing where your salary stands in your field, but it's hard to ignore the fact that we don't know when the salary was given. 

2022 was a gold mine, compared to the market right now where jobs are hard to come by. I think having a salary date filter (past x months) will also help gauge how the job market actually is right now.

I believe it is extremely difficult to judge exact level of an individual during an interview. It is better to also use past salary as some indication of value to last company. Having said that, the company needs to get to the correct salary range depending on performance in first 6 months.

I remember there was a graph with plotting of salaries from different companies. I am not able to find it now.

Where did the salary graph on grapevine go?

Hiring for a bunch of roles for an early stage startup. Salaries of people who have been laid off is through the roof

2-3 years experience asking for 30-40l and while we chose not to judge the experience and spoke to a few of them, most of them are not even worth half of the pay. 

Many are jobless since last 2-3 months and none of them are willing to take a paycut of even 5-6L and are willing to stay jobless ( probably have a ton of savings )

Market correction is necessary.

Roles : PM, software engineers, generalists

What's wrong with salaries

If you are paid less, don’t extrapolate it on others. If they are willing to wait, let them. You should keep praying for “corrections”.

With 12 years of professional experience, I'm currently employed as an Architect. I have two offers - 36 + 6L Variable, 38 +6L in hand but I feel this is not as per current market. 
I've only switched once early in my career (after 3 yrs) and heard people get north of 40s few years back with less experience than what I had. 
I know that there are apps which aggregates and shows salary trend but it is not reliable as it shows less than what I currently get.
Please let me know if these offers are inline with the trend or I should be expecting more.

It’s been close to 10 days since we announced Salaries (beta) on Grapevine. This little baby product has gotten good traction, so we want to give it more love and develop it into something deep, and helpful

Since launch, more than 10,000 people have used the product, and 4000+ have contributed their salary information anonymously :)

TL;DR: We are launching our biggest product since Grapevine itself. We’ve worked really really hard on this one.

Why we built this: Getting paid is one of the main reasons why we work, and our goal with Grapevine was always to solve for information asymmetry 

With this we set out to make a product with the following principles at its core: 
1. Make Salary information visual 
2. Focus on freshness
3. Bring out the story behind the data 
4. Help people assess their own salaries v/s global data

 Today, the product works well for software engineers, kinda well for product managers and designers.  
 But as we gather more salary data points - this only gets better and more actionable :)

Had the first (exploration) call with my would-be boss and HR lead to figure out which role I would fit in. Company is an MNC startup, best culture ive heard of, lots of friends working there in different verticals etc. I usually dont reveal salary this early on but it was a very quick call and they asked about it and I felt like I had to this time to not come off as a snob or stuck up.

Chances are low and I am okay pushing back but Im paranoid about getting lowballed now. Any advice on how to better my chances in the upcoming rounds? Greatly appreciate any help

Revealing salary in the first round. Yay or nay?

It depends on where you are in terms of the compensation spectrum. It can definitely lead to bias if your current salary is not on the higher side. 
  
 For too long, I have played this back and forth game of revealing salary and asking them for budget and frankly, it’s too tiring in Indian recruitment circles. 
  
 So, I have started just being honest from the beginning about my current pay & expectation and have seen recruiters be transparent about their budgets too. 
 Eventually if a company has to lowball they anyway would, but I am glad that I don’t have to exercise so much cognitive effort playing this game of riddles
