Why do people feel uncomfortable to share their salary with peers?
why do people feel uncomfortable or bad about sharing salaries with peers of the same level? if you share it then only you will get to know how much you are getting paid comparatively and next time you ask what you deserve in appraisals. why are we not helping ourselves?

It's unhealthy to share this information. Both the person who has the lower salary and the person who has the higher salary stand to lose from this. First hand experience of people going to the manager and telling them that their peer who they believe isn't as smart as them is getting paid more. The manager screwed the person who shared it and didn't do anything about it either. It's just a ruined relationship now.
Because co workers ki fati padi hoti h, hence blind / levels type stuff exist.
I think both people should mature enough to understand its all about how you have negotiated it and what was the previous salary. If you understand this i don't think there will be any problem in sharing it. We should be aware at least for the next appraisal.

Because it can backfire. Everyone usually doesn’t have the same journey or background hence the salary would vary. Unless it is an mnc where bands are most likely to be followed, it is futile in an indian company context.
