In two different minds here

Of late I have been watching many India glorifying movies/shows - Rocketry, Manikarnika, Rocket Boys. 
On other hand, riots based on community and religion make me wonder how can people put own country down.

Then, I am paying for 2.5 months of salary in tax. But am I benefitting from it? The road outside house has been broken before monsoons, gets even worse now.

I legitimately find it concerning that so many Grapeviners are not just conservatives but outright Sanghis who betray their intelligence with 5th standard debate tactics or just outright hate. Some quick pointers before you come at me with pitchforks

1) I voted for Modi in 2014 but then from 2019 onwards I changed my mind (more on that later)

2) Almost everyone here belongs to the urban elite who have voted for BJP. However, the so-called educated elite feels that the everyday uneducated common man is dumb. Education does not equal intelligence (correlated yes, but not an indicator). If you don't like how a significant portion of India you never see or interact with voted, tough luck, welcome to democracy. 

3) Also is this result, really so bad? It's stupid to think that the BJP as the sole ruling party is good for the country. Great for your stocks on the Sensex and MFs but not for the actual common man. They are the silent majority who make the country run and they just let everyone know that although there has been an economic boom, they have been left out. 

4) Take a chill pill. The India story is still alive and well. In fact, having some diverse voices can help a democracy. Not ram-rodding bills that everyone from farmers to jobless youth hate can be good. You just have to learn to play with others & listen for once.

Finally, I supported Modi because I was tired of Congress shenanigans and I supported him up to demonetisation. However, the blatant horse-trading, the weaponisation of ED, Hindu vs <insert religious minority> rhetoric and the lack of any balls to face unscripted questions in TEN years made me change my mind. 

PS: The knee-jerk reaction of every sanghi here is to deploy "What about X & Y", I will not respond to any of those arguments because that's just a week cop-out. Judge yourselves on your own merits, not that you are somehow less evil.

I am getting offered a 10L Esops for example, does that  simply mean i need to pay some amount  to get shares worth 10L of company at Actual Market Price?

I have got only RSUs until now so now idea how world of esops work and are they actual money?

Like If i’m at 40 CTC fixed and getting offer 48 fixed + 8L esops, am i getting 20% increment or 40% increment?

Let's assume youre stepping into your 5th grade. Parents tell you that they have 10 chocolates in the fridge and if you complete all the homework, pass exams with distinction and make them proud, they will give 10 chocolates and also extra.  
  
 So you work your ass off and kill your homework and exams. 
  
 If you have good parents, they will give you 2 chocolates per milestone [ESOPs buyback].  
  
 If you have good and rich parents, they will do as promised [company going IPO]. 
  
 Very common scenario - If you have bad parents, they will continue promising the existence of chocolates to motivate you but in reality there are no chocolates [company not doing buyback nor going IPO. ESOPs are just paper money with no value].

Me and my wife are 30 years old software engineer with no kids. Draw 7 lac a month please some yearly bonus. We invest 2 lac a month combined into equity market through mutual funds. 

Expenses: 1.5 lac a month including everything, lives in Bangalore in good society, owns a car, don't thing much before spending. 

Still after everything left with 3 lakhs every month in bank account. Not sure how to use that. We both don't have any fancy "shauk" where we can spend and hence don't have an urge to earn more. 

Any suggestions???

Hey - we are also similar to you. Would strongly suggest finding something you’re passionate about. 
  
 For us (primarily me) - got a dog, took a 6 month sabbatical, travelled to 30+ countries in this time, left job to pursue startup idea, spend time with parents, learn language, improve fitness, learnt some coding, etc 
  
 It’s a pretty good position to be in - just explore I’d say

I'm an ambitious person who can work his ass off. But I lack direction, I don't know what I should do to get there.

1. Wake up at 4am 
 2. Plan the day ahead by brainstorming new ideas for profitability 
 3. Go to gym, invest in your body 
 4. Reach out to your customers before your morning coffee, helps set the tone for the day. 
 5. Rob a bank 
 6. Repeat till you reach your target of 100 crores.

Guys I have land worth 2.16acres where approx 45 30*40 sites can be constructed and currently per plot of 30*40 selling somewhere to 15-18lakhs

Is it good idea to sell all in 1/2years? Get retired while keeping 50% FD and 50% in Nifty 50?

And do freelance or remote small work which I really care about???

Today I saw my payslip after a long time and WTH! I don't know what they'll take once bonus comes in. Paying this much for no water, bad air, corrupt babus and all those douche things.

As much as patriotic I am, this is just insane. On top of this add all the GST and sheet ton of other indirect taxes.

Living in India and paying like Europe. Wow!

Earning around 50 lpa at 24 is already a great feat. Still if u want to look at the dark side, nobody can help. This rant is more common than diabetes. Yet people will stress about same thing and rant to destress. Endless cycle. Either do something about it or bring some new perspective. P.S. I am in alignment with ur rant but I’ve made peace with the state of affairs as I am not looking to move out of India and I cannot strong arm govt. individually to change this.

I am an opportunity investor, and I do buy good stocks whenever they are in reasonable valuations. Below are my monthly numbers. 

2. Where’s the majority of your investment portfolio ?
I have three RE investments and one of them has loan. And I’m planning to buy a property in Goa or HP. 

3. What’s your monthly investment breakdown?

1.7L/ Month (approx) 

60k - SIP (mutual funds)
60k - stocks (smallcase, us stocks using vested) 
30k - as opportunity fund, this is transferred to a different bank account 
10-20k - for experimental investments in crypto, nfts, and some trading. This is a new segment and I don’t have much experience in this and that’s why starting small here. 

4. Anything else you want to share?
