Gym guidance
New to gymming Im following the athlean X 3 month beginner workout. Any guidance or tips on gymming is appreciated
My current employee is offering a gym membership as part of employee benefits (not free, gotta pay some money so its seen as something you've paid for and make use of it, rather than taking it for granted if its kept free).
I've been living a sedentary lifestyle for the past 1.5yrs as I had been under quite a lot of depression rollercoaster and loss of job and endless job hunting.
But I've now decided it's time to bring back my fitness and stay in my best health form and live a healthy lifestyle. I also want to force myself into getting comfortable with living life outside of the comfort zone (atleast for most of the time). And hence, took up this gym membership.
But now, I'm having random fears of what if my body isn't actually in good condition to bear workout ? I have some unknown skin rashes and allergies that appear and disappear randomly. What if there's an underlying issue that I need to take care of ? What if workout might make it worse ? I've also seen people fainting to their last breath after joining gym to get back in shape. (I might be overthinking but these are real concerns though)
Is there any way I can have myself checked and make sure I can go ahead and take this leap of faith ?
Rashes and allergies usually don't have anything to do with gymming. In fact the sweating will help your body remove toxins and improve skin health.
Try going for a day or two, if nothing worse happens, continue going. Don't think about what people will think about you, they're busy with their own exercises.
If you're that scared, work with a trainer. But there's no need to worry at all.
Trainer ✅ Health Issues are my main concerns though bcz the reason behind me living a sedentary lifestyle in the first place was bcz the sweat sometime used to trigger these rashes.
And we need to maintain hygiene at the gym, right ? So, that's a linked concern as well.
Just go bro, i started gymming at the age of 30, had same feelings as yours when i started.
Over time, i realized noone has enough time to care what you're doing in gym. Put in your earphones, take longer rests between sets if you feel like..
But just start, 2 months down the line, come back here and i can give you in written that if you fight hard with yourself and follow gym routine no matter what, you would become a different person with more energy.
Dont take any unnecessary supplements at the initial phase till you're sure, build endurance, start whey if you feel like... but if you can follow a balanced diet, there is nothing better than that ..
Definitely a great set of advice. Thankyou.
Don't think much just go and join, start lightly, enjoy the music there and people around, also don't get carried away with people too much, mainly focus on workouts. Going to the gym from age 22 college times, I am 32+ now. I love it
Damn ! That's 🫡
I can give advice what works for me to bring consistency. I started with 30 mins of gym. Just some random workout and come home after workout. In some time i increased my gym time to 1 hour 15 min. I nowadays enjoy the gym time. You can always start with small and create a habit of consistency.
If there is anxiety of people looking at you then dont worry about it. No one sees at you gym. Every body is focused on their own workout.
Nah. I don't have anxiety of people. Infact I'm joining bcz I want to meet new people. My concerns are mostly related to health due to my long sedentary lifestyle previously
