PSA: Don't drink too much (water)

So, I love water. Who doesn't? It's one of the top few drinks known to man. And so in office I used to drink a lot of water. I thought that's healthy.

Over time, I started developing a throbbing headache. I was very confused, and assumed the worst. Did not want to go to the doctor, cuz I thought it'll pass. But I saw it coming back a few days a week, for almost 2-3 months.

Somehow, I recently read a book on health which asked me not to drink excess water, cuz it washes away minerals. Then I read more, realized if you have too much water, it can lead to swelling up of parts of the brain, which leads to a throbbing headache.

It was an big insight. It's been a couple of days, actively measuring and making sure I don't drink too much. So far, no headache yet (fingers crossed)

Thumb rule - anything in excess always harms.
3-4 litres is okay for a normal adult. The same would differ for men and women. Further consumption depends on your activity level, temperature of your environment and age.
There's no one-size-fits-all answer, as fluid needs vary among individuals.

Best approach is to monitor your hydration is to monitor the color of urine you pass.

I drink 5L almost daily (seriously) and I don't have more than normal physical activity. I do not have headache like you, but i honestly feel too thirsty if I dont..

Bro get your sugar levels checked, 5 litres is a lot without strenuous activity. Could be a sign of type 2 diabetes.
