Would you pay this service charge?
Can’t wrap my head around this. This is too crazy. 🤪 Found on Reddit
I'll almost always ask to remove service charge from the bill if they've added, if they're are charging 565₹ for a plate of pasta make it 599₹ instead but don't add these bs charges.
Exactly. It is basically a ploy to show low prices, age old trick by Myntra too.
When you go to cart they would add unnecessary charges.
Same thing
It's not even like restaurants keep the prices low, they've almost always have 70-80% markup on bom cost.
Myntra is worse they'll add rando fees and still not refund full amount, plus their coupons logic is messed up of private label items.

Few years back when I used to ask to remove service charge(I had just started my corporate life), the waiters used to make a face like I have asked to marry their only daughter. One time in Pasta Street, the guy started talking in semi aggressive manner. I was with my female friends so I didn't push it further.
Things have changed a lot in past couple of years I would say. There is less resistance now from staff when asked to remove service charge. I guess more people have started asking to get it removed and they have just started adjusting it in menu price.
