Is my career ruined? 😰

Hey folks,

Having 3.3 YOE. In one of my past stints I left a company in 2 months due to toxic work culture and joined a better company.

I am a junior product manager. Will this short stint create problems for further opportunities?

Need suggestions.

Yeah dude now you are ruined. Not because of that short stint. That’s fine. But if you are someone who think just because of a short stint your entire career is ruined makes me feel it is ruined.

"You are who you think you are"

Within reason, obviously.

Don’t value yourself with your years of work-ex but the quality of work and the others will start seeing it that way too. And bro ā€œyou’re a PM not a junior PMā€ take pride it else this role isn’t cut out for you. You had the guts to take this big decision in 2 months and that’s a big decision and showcases that you aren’t afraid to take hard calls. If I were you I would position this instance in my behavioural round as my strength for sure.

Either don’t mention in cv Or prepare a politically aligned answer ā€œrole got redundant/ role did not align with my experience/ goal etc.ā€

Additionally, once it becomes 3-4 years old, no one is going to bother about it.

Your career isn't ruined, buddy. You've just taken a detour on the road of experience. Aapka time ayega! (Your time will come!)

You may skip the work ex... show it as a gap to recharge before you wanted to join a new company

No, just don't mention it in your resume. That work ex isn't going to add anything and if asked, just say you took some time off to travel.

Ruined? No. Stained? Yes. You're a product manager, not a product. Don't be a quitter. "Toxic" is just an excuse. "Mushkil waqt, wahi asli imtehan hota hai". What's your next excuse?
