Karnataka labour minister Santosh Lad on July 22 said that IT industries are pressuring the government to extend working hours.

"The proposal is from the IT industries, but the labour department is evaluating it. IT industries proposed this and are pressuring the government, but we want all industries to discuss this with us," he told reporters.

First, Infosys has split the IT employees between the states via Karnataka Government's legislation for local reservation for Pro-Kannadigas. Just FYI Infosys founder have agreed for local reservation bill. Then this draconian law of get 14 hrs/day implemented via the same government without national level fight. Well planned!

Come on guys ! Employees across the country should be unitedly fight for getting basic rights of the employees 8 Hr/day including lunch/tea break time and let's though this draconian law of asking for 12-14 hrs/day at work to Crematorium!

Recently the CHRO of my company called me into a discussion on improving  WORK LIFE BALANCE.  Wow. I just cannot understand. Look at this. 
1. Most companies work 5 days a week. (Except retail operations). So you get 52 weeks x 2. 104 days. 
2. 30 days annual leav
3. 9 days statutory holidays. 
4. Operational holidays. 3. 
145 days of 365 days corporate people don’t come to office. And in a hybrid format even more. 
It is these corporate vultures who want work life Balance. How can u balance your life if u r unable to do it in 145 days. 
So Narayana murthy is right - work hard like 80% of india. Who have almost no weekly off. Just saying.

I tried Ola ebike service for commuting a short distance ~ 5km. The experience was good and the fare was also cheap(50 Rs.). 
I spoke to the driver about earnings and whether he has to give EMI for the OE bike. Then he showed me the below table - how his earnings are calculated. 

I got shocked at seeing the high earnings amount - upto 4.5K daily which amounts to 1.35 lac monthly! 
He told me that Ola ebike is for short distances only - Upto 7-8 kms. And he is able to get average 3-4 rides in 1 hour, and he also doesn't have to pay for the vehicle rent. The Charging is also free at Ola Chargers. 

I couldn't help but wonder how can Ola sustain with this much spending. If they're giving upto 1lac to every driver and charging the user very less, that's a lot of cash burn.

What is your opinion on the 14 hour work day?

I feel it's unreasonable to require MNCs to disclose the number of their employees who are Kannadigas and to prioritize Kannadigas for employment. Such policies seem to be attempting to introduce reservation concepts into sectors like IT, which have traditionally operated on merit-based principles. Implementing such policies may breed resentment against the state and its communities.

These measures could also raise doubts among investors about the viability of investing in a state with such regulations. Growing up, Bangalore was renowned for its welcoming people, pleasant weather, and thriving IT sector. However, with increasing instances of hooliganism and policies like these, Bangalore risks losing its appeal, leaving only its pleasant weather.

As for my own background, my father is Kannadiga and my mother is Tamilian. Should my company consider me a Kannadiga?
