Does swtiching really help?

I AM NOT TALKING MONEYYY. I understand most of you who have switched is either for financial reasons or maybe change in role or work or even bad boss. I am talking about an angle from where your work is good, team is good so is culture. And most importantly you are being respected and have amazing peace of mind, stress free life.Yes salary might be low, but again there never will be a limit where some should stop and not ask for more money. I am at this point, where pay is decent and genuinely don’t feel to switch. But it’s just that people everywhere are talking about switching, and comparing that this guy earns more than you. People are like you should switch and earn more money etc. But haven’t found anyone who feels the same as i do. In good place where I am. What do you think?

Not switching and being too long in your comfort zone may hurt your career prospects when you eventually have to move out.

Whats wrong being in comfort zone? I have already spent 1/3 of my life struggling, pushing myself out of comfort zone. Doesn’t it seems unfair where you spent 30-40 years of initial life grinding just so your remaining 30-40 years you get to be in comfort zone? Those 30-40 years wont even feel like comfort zone with all those responsibilities and get older and weaker. I would rather enjoy with what I right now. Isn’t this switching or “move out of comfort zone” is all about human greed? A never ending wish?

For a few years, no problem. But longer than that, and you'll probably be behind in salary and seniority and it may be difficult to close the gap later. If you don't mind that, no problem

Simple answer: If you are happy where you are, no need to switch. Complicated gyaan: Let’s say you consider 5 factors in a job, of which 4 are green in your current job and 1 is like an amber - so you switch thinking the one amber will also become green, but you end up in a place where now you have 3 greens, one amber and one red. Why get into this mess of the unknown? If you are happy with 4 greens in your life, enjoy them and ignore the one amber factor

Very well put. I am thinking the same, future is very much uncertain. Just because something isnt right now, in order to fix that to end up breaking other things. I have seen people they first switch bcoz team and boss is okay but is pay is low as per thier standards, after switching pay is fine but work culture is terrible, now again switching

It all depends. I understand and respect the fact that you are not blindly running after earning more money. However at the same time you should think from another perspectives like your current and future responsibilities, inflation, etc. And IMO to fulfill that in the long term you will have to switch somewhere along the timeline. So not switching for the sake of because everyone is doing it is good, but getting too much in the comfort zone can be very dangerous in the long term. Sometimes when you realise that, it's very late and people struggle a lot to come out of it. Wishing you the best.
