Harassment by police patrol

I was standing near Whitefield in my 4 wheeler around midnight, just away from the hustle bustle of the fast life, smoking a cigarette and had a beer 1 hour before the incident (beer can was present in the car) when a police Jeep stopped and asked me to come out. They checked my entire car (to find more illegal drugs 'read Marijuana') but didn't find anything. Started threatening me with the car seizure. When I asked them to do breath analyzer test as I was 100% sure of being in the permissible limit, they asked me to come to police station for the same after they issue me a challan. How can they issue a drink driving challan when I am not drunk and without a breath analyzer? And started threatening me with 25000 rs fine plus car being released in 6 months plus more than a lac of rupees in lawyer cost. (Ofcourse bullshitting me) They were doing the proper good cop bad cop tactic and I had to pay them 7k bribe just to get out of there. (Couldn't risk the whole court drama, couldn't afford time as I was roaming without the knowledge of my family and avoid anxiety to them and my car also has northern registration) But is this justified ? Can we not even smoke a cigarette in our vehicle in this godforsaken city ? Do we need to be mindful of the goons or the police ? Anyways, what is the best way to get out of such situations?

Road rage, regrets and thoughts!

Not really sure if this is the right place to put this up but I wanted to take it out somewhere. I happened to be in a road rage recently. There was this Rapido/Uber biker who was driving rashly. I had seen him but didn’t bother and I was going my way. Suddenly, he overtook me from left and his handle hit on my bike handle. I shouted in panic and he was saying some random shit looking at me - You need to watch out, bro.. something like that. I was safe and don’t think even the bike had any damage but I lost my calm and wanted to kind of scold him for how he was riding. I followed him driving rashly again for about 500m and caught up and shouted at him saying - bhai shanti se chala or nahi chalana aata hai toh kyun chala rhe ho. And I realised I was about to head on hit an auto wala but braked on time. That auto wala started giving me hand gestures. He was right. I did drive rash. In the meanwhile, that biker guy went crazy. He got off his bike, took his helmet and signalled at hitting me. The auto wala was standing beside me and he asked what was happening. I said this guy hit my bike and tried to run away. The biker was speaking some rubbish something like - I warned you there also bro.. I went a little numb and didn’t figure what was happening. This guy hit me with his hand on my helmet. I didn’t get hurt but felt the blow. I tried saying something but nothing came out. He hit me again the same way. The auto wala tried to stop him. He kept abusing and then left. I was numb for a few mins. Left from there and reached home safe. I am just not able to get these thoughts off my head. The incident keeps flashing. I feel lucky to not have removed my helmet, tried to hit him back because I don’t know what that could have led to. It was clearly my mistake that I lost my calm and followed him in the first place knowing he was a rapido biker. I don’t know why I did that - may be work stress or may be some other trauma. I have been bullied at times in my childhood when I

Drunken drive case (any cops on grapevine?)

So a few weeks back one of my friends was going back to his house after having a few beers at our place. He was riding his bike and just a few meters away from his home he got caught by cops and was asked to blow into the breathalyser( the alcohol tester). And the reading turned out to be 42, two units more than the permissible limit of 40. They sacked his bike and told him he has to go to court, pay the fine and only then the bike will be released. Our friend called us and told us what had happened. Me and my fiancé went to the police station to see what the scene was. They told the same thing and when we asked why they let other drunk people go and if we can see their test results, the cop was like , the machine switched off and we couldn’t take the test for other people or some shit(apparently there were people not even able to stand properly and were let go, a/c to our friend) My fiancé was hell bent on asking why they only had seized our friend’s bike and no else’s vehicle and I tried to stop him from getting too involved as the argument started heating up and it wasn’t going to help anyone at this point. Fast forward to few days, there was no online challan for his bike still and the cop tells our friend that he needs to pay them in the police station itself that too CASH. Not online. They said once you pay us cash, some OTP will come and you can share that next day in the station. It did seem fishy but the bike was just lying outside the police station and the process wasn’t getting started. And we told ourselves out loud “let’s trust the police and not over think things”. After a day or two these guys went and paid off the cop 13k ( 10k is drunken drive fine btw and 3k for some other shit they took) with no physical record of that transaction. Our friend still awaits that OTP from the station :/ P.S. few lessons from this to the readers: Firstly, please don’t drink and drive as you’re putting a lot of lives at risk. Secondly, if you’re caught for a drunken drive case, know that cops can’t take spot fine for it, only in court this can happen, is what I know( if this OTP thing is true do let us know in comments if you know any cops or if you are one) Also all suggestion are welcome on how he could have handled it better because police wasn’t proceeding with the challan and the bike was going to stay stuck forever there outside the station. Thanks for your time!

Great to see Delhi NCR people fighting the forced narratives of North vs South

People have this weird notion that Delhi/Gurgaon isn't safe and that the folks here are as warm as an ice cube in Antarctica. Can you believe that? This narrative has been doing the rounds for so long that it's starting to affect the migration of people to this part of the world. But let me set the record straight. Gurgaon is the real deal. It's the city with good infrastructure and a welcoming vibe for migrants. It's like the cool kid at the party, while Bangalore has a little something called the Bangalore police. Now, these folks, they've got a unique way of welcoming North Indians – by demanding money when they hear you speaking Hindi. Yes, you heard that right. I've had not one but two laughable encounters with them. Picture this: I'm just out for a casual late-night walk at 11 PM (because who needs sleep, right?), and out pops Mr. Constable, asking for his "fee" and insisting it's against the law to stroll around at that hour. And guess what? I'm not the only one in this comedy club. Hundreds of people have taken to Twitter to share their own hilarious stories. Now, let's switch gears and talk about Gurgaon. It's got the smooth roads, a fast track to the airport, and apartments where you don't need to sacrifice your life savings as a deposit. It's the practical choice for newcomers. So, in a nutshell, let's keep challenging these stereotypes and celebrate the positives of each city. Gurgaon, you're the real MVP, and Bangalore, maybe it's time for you to rethink your police's comedy night. City rivalries – always good for a chuckle!
