So… any plans for marriage?
^That’s my parents’ new favorite question, like I can just slot it between investor meetings and product launches. And yeah, they’re not wrong. By the time I’m ready, I’ll need to have found someone. You can’t just fast-forward to a relationship; it takes time, energy, and mental space — things I don’t have right now. I get it. One day I’ll probably wonder why I didn’t start sooner. But right now, my focus is here: building this startup. It’s not a 9-5, it’s sleepless nights, constant pressure, and the highs and lows of creating something from scratch. Then there’s this fear — that I’m screwing up my future by not looking for someone now. That I’ll wake up at 35, alone, asking myself what happened. But forcing a relationship just because it’s “time”? That’s how people end up miserable. The truth is, most of us in our late 20s are in the same boat. Trying to build something meaningful while figuring out life. Some dive into relationships, others wait it out, and all of us hope we’re not making a mistake. So when my parents ask again, I’ll keep saying, “not yet.” - idk where this will land me, but I don't really know better!
I met a guy through one of those matrimony apps. He works as a consultant in one of the big 4s. Though all the aspects matched between us, he couldn't commit time to the relationship. Shattered, my quest to find the right one also ended because I genuinely didn't know what else to find in any other person. His overdemanding work schedule literally killed the probability of a happy future.
My 2 cents: only look for a life companion when you genuinely want to set aside some time to build the relationship just like the startup you're building. A relationship is just like a baby that needs time and care!
My mom always says she’s not trying to rush me, just remind me that time doesn’t stop. I think she’s just worried that I’ll get so caught up in work that I forget to think about the bigger picture. At the end of the day, they just want us to be happy, even if we don’t realize what will make us happy right now.
Get married, why do you think marriage will stop your career progress? Instead it should help you in growing.
I’m not even in the startup world, but damn if this doesn’t hit home. I’m in a corporate job, and between climbing the ladder and keeping my sanity intact, there’s zero time or energy left to ‘find the one.’ Sometimes I wonder if I’m sabotaging myself, but then again, I don’t want to rush just because people expect me to.

A relationship needs time and effort, and mostly people in 20s are themselves figuring out life and then committing to a relationship is just too much.
I think instead of "finding the one", we should just continue with our life, keep working on our goals and if we happen to meet someone in the journey, and the vibe matches, it's great!!
But just because it's time to "settle" doesn't justify marrying someone. This is a decision that could make or break someone's life. why the rush then?
Also, my friends make fun of me as I have never been in a relationship. But when I see them, I feel bad for them. None of my friends is totally happy with their relationship. Some of them aren't leaving their partners just because they do not want to again start from scratch with someone else.
So no matter how much their partner hurts/disrespects them, they don't leave them.
I feel not being in a relationship is way better than feeling miserable every single day.

In today's generation, I don't think marriage is that much important. Just focus on your career and health. If you want to enjoy sex, you can go for casual sex, hookups, livin, one night stand, etc. Sex is just like a chocolate you feel pleasure only for a particular time frame (age between 25-32). After 32, your sexual desires fall down and you won't need any feelings of sex. So just for 7-8 years you have to do these things for your sexual pleasure. Sex, Career and health are an important part of life not marriage remember that. All the best! 🙂
The sooner the better, your parents are right. Everything has a time so do a marriage and getting married in 20s would be the best decision whether you like it or not. Do you want your children's looks younger while you look like grandpa?

dude a early 20 guy here i can understand but imagine having given your years to the company and suddenly you sent back home what will you do who will you meet it is just at the right time u gotto get right balance
If one has no plans for marriage then that is understandable. Why it should be a marriage vs career. I know it is important to have financial stability. But coupes who grow together are happier than the ones that gets married after achieving so called success.
I'm 30, and still single. So, believe me when I say I've been thinking about this for quite a while. Here are my two cents that I learned.
1) No one can simply get married because they hit a certain age. You have to mentally prepare yourself to willing have someone in your space, physical or psychological. Once you're married, your partner will be there, should be there, and has to be there, that's marriage. You have to prepare for this.
2) if you're 26 and asking if you should get married by 26, you're asking the wrong question. It should rather be if I want to be married by 29 or 30, what should I start doing now, so that I'm ready by then. You could've asked the same question when you were 22 or 23, to get married at 26.
3) This is a personal opinion. You can't settle down and find the "right partner" that fits into your "defined" life. It's better to find someone who you can share your vision with, align goals, and then settle down on the goals and lifestyle together.
It's funny how we realize we're late to the show while we never start on time.

See all the comements, but I also know people who raced the corporate ladder in mid 30s regretting not giving marriage and building relationships a chance. I think there could be plus and minus everywhere.
I am 25 sometimes i feel i should find partner from Bangalore from it sector, then i see people around dating apps and in office, everyone here is looking for short term now a days, this generation is changed a lot. No one is looking for true love and affection.
Although decent looyguy with decent salary is not able to get partner here, most girls like fuck boys who are 1% on bumble .
The only thing I can say is whenever we look back on how we lived our life so far no one remembers that I got 99 or 100 but how much fun we had in the classes, similarly when we get old and think no one will say that I worked 70 hours (Mr Narayan Murthy) or made so much money (We do say now but don't see older guys talking much about it) ... by reading the responses from so many girls it seems we will have the same problem as western countries where it is all about individual achievements (which comes with loneliness, lack of emotional connect, lesser friends, stress, depressed) and their consequences. Well, that's maybe just my opinion or trying to understand the environment to the best of my capabilities
I’m 27 right now, and when I ask for advice from many people in their mid-30s, 90% of them have a negative outlook on marriage, while the rest say it’s just okay—not too good or bad.

What young and unmarried folks need to understand is that marriage can be a strength. You don't have to do everything alone, you have someone with you to move the mountain. I started on my startup journey after I got married. I have a healthy life, I go to the gym, I work hard but I don't lose sleep over it and yet I have enough time for my lovely wife who has been kind to support me in this endeavour. It might not be successful as fast as I would have liked but hey, all good things take time. I am gonna keep building for the next 5 years, heck even 10 years. I am not in a hurry. I don't have to do things sequentially, first build a startup and then marry, you know. Life runs parallelly, you should try it, maybe?

You can still go on occasional dates, that won't stop you from building.
One date a week or month max. Still enough to be out there. You might just find someone worthy.
